It’s really light! The Ozium is not unusual in that respect as there are a number of sub 3kg pod harnesses on the market , but for me a saving of over 5kg against my previous harness is impressive and I am really sold by this aspect. The weight (or lack of it) simply makes moving around whilst kitted up so much more graceful, not to mention saving my back from hefting around a very heavy kit bag.
A whole Flybubble gaggle flew over to France to catch up on all the new products at the Coupe Icare in St Hilaire, and got to spend time with some of the industry’s top product designers and people; Gin Seok Song of Gin, Hannes Papesh of new brand Phi, Clement Latour of Supair, Philippe Medicus of Nova, Andrej Kolar of Naviter and Flytec, Urs Haari of High Adventure, Vincent Del Medico of Syride, Arne Wehrlin of Skywalk, Joerg Ewald at Volirium, Bruce Goldsmith of BGD, Denis Cortella of Kortel, and many more...
The SYS’Nav V3 is a mid-range flight instrument aimed at competition and cross country pilots, sitting in the Syride range under the full graphical display SYS’Evolution, and above the SYS’GPS. I’m coming to review the SYS’Nav having used the SYS’GPS instrument for the last couple of years and finding it to be excellent at what it does.
"When I return to the ground and am asked by non-flying friends how it was, I can never find a way to convey more than a tiny fraction of it; I open my mouth but am lost for words to describe the awesome beauty of climbing to 6,000 feet in a big sky or of seeing the world spread out far below me whilst still dwarfed by clouds the size of mountains …"
It was Day 2 of the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) British Club Challenge (BCC), and looking through the caravan skylight the sky was blue with conditions similar to the day before. Hundred House was the new venue called for the BCC, given the more Easterly breeze. This was over an hour away from the Slackers camp site in Llangatock so I enjoyed being chauffeured there by more experienced XC hound Andrew Craig; it felt good to share encouragement and be confident enough to leave my car far behind with a clear intention of leaving the hill, knowing that every kilometre flown would take me towards my (mobile) home.
Never having been a part of the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) British Club Challenge (BCC) I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. In 7 years I’d not quite got beyond being a lone ranger of the skies (well, ridges, more accurately). Whenever I’d previously thought about attending, the dates had never coincided with my being free of other responsibilities.
