Icaro Solar X
Price as configured: £0.00
3 sizes available to cover head circumferences from 53 to 61 cm, each with an adjustable sizing wheel to fine tune the fit.
- S (53-56 cm = XS-S)
- M (57-59 cm = M-L)
- L (60-61 cm = L-XL)
The size of a helmet is always described by the inner circumference of the head lining (internal padding). The size number therefore corresponds to the head circumference in centimetres.
Interchangeable internal padding
3 internal paddings are adapted to the 3 sizes determined by the wheel regulator situated in the back of the helmet. They can be replaced by larger or smaller padding pieces included the wheel regulator, thus varying the helmet size.
You just choose your own size of ICARO tailored inner helmet lining for a safe, perfectly comfortable head fit. It can be changed in moments in case a different size is needed. The important advantage: you can easily remove the padding and replace it with a new one or just wash it.
If the helmet is not a perfect fit, Icaro will send a new padding free of charge, independently from where you bought the helmet.

Available in Short and Long versions, each in Transparent or Tinted Brown.
Designed by Ignazio Bernardi, with the technical consultancy from the greatest Italian helmet developer, the Solar X has a very modern look. Made 100% in Italy.
Reduced width of the helmet
The advantage of a reduced width of the helmet are evident: less weight and less resistance to te air. The disadvantage, as there is only one shell size, is that the maximum size is XL (head circumference 61 cm).
The 3 mm thickness polycarbonate shell has the advantage to be very light but still very strong.
The polystyrene inside is reinforced with one more layer of polycarbonate to achieve the hard penetration test of the E.N. 966 certification.
Airflow inside the helmet
Between the shell and the polystyrene there are 2 channels with their holes for the air flow. You can open or close the entrance of the air into the helmet just with one hand and while you are flying.
Covering shell edge
We found a method to stich a strip of fabric around the helmet shell edge. The result is beautiful!
Sidepieces and chin strap
Plastic-coated stainless steel wire sidepieces and micrometric chin strap.
Certification E.N. 966
The Solar X has been tested by the italian laboratory Newton a company authorized by the Italian Ministry of Transport. It is certified only with attached ear defenders or electronic headsets.
All our helmets are designed especially for free flight and micro light pilots, in accordance with the European standards (EN 966). They are designed and built specifically to be as light as possible. However they optimize safety for hang glider, paraglider and micro light pilots, as shown by the information above.

Icaro Solar X Reviews
Nancy was extremely knowledgeable about the product and helped me to configure it with the appropriate Microavionics headset; Flybubble have a great arrangement with Microavionics and they send your helmet to them directly for the headset to be fitted by the experts - they in turn despatch it directly to you at no extra charge. Service was very prompt as soon as the helmet came into stock from Icaro.
The headset is very clear, both on transmit and receive, light and comfortable - with great adjustability in the chin strap. Ear cups 'clip' in or out to either keep out the noise or allow conversation on the ground and are very comfortable; mine just needed a little tweak to achieve that perfect position of not crushing your head in a vice and yet keeping all the noise out.
Helmet has been good in summer and winter conditions - vents open allow a gentle breeze and when closed the helmet is draft free. I don't have a visor - yet. I like that the visor of choice can be retro fitted if one feels the need - I'll wait and see if my eyes water when the weather gets colder!
