Scope of delivery
- NOVA Rucksack. The wing and harness will determine the size of the rucksack. Nova is offering their high quality and comfortable rucksacks to carry models in S (110 litres), M (145 litres) and L (165 litres).
- Repair kit. Everyone hopes it will never happen: a hole or tear in the paraglider. Nova has included a minor damage repair kit in the right colour for such an eventuality.
- NOVA windsock. So you know where the wind is coming from, Nova has added a NOVA windsock. With a length of approximately 80cm, it is large enough for a take-off site.
- Manual. Nova has enclosed a very detailed manual which contains everything you need to know about your paraglider. Please study it before flying your wing for the first time.
SPEEDMAX 2 - Pure Powered Performance
The paramotor wing with Soft-Reflex. DGAC certified.
Development and Progress
The excellent performance, the high degree of passive safety and the outstanding handling of the MENTOR series were the perfect prerequisites for the design of a paramotor wing. A soft-reflex profile, a trimmer system optimised for motorised flying and a flatter arc guarantee paramotor flying pleasure of the highest level.
Stay up longer
The MENTOR series is synonymous with outstanding cross-country performance. The SPEEDMAX 2 profits from these characteristics: surprisingly little thrust is needed to keep the wing up. If the trimmers are released, the wing impresses with a high top speed whilst maintaining excellent directional stability.
Thanks to its good inflation characteristics, the SPEEDMAX 2 is easy to launch, even in nil-wind. In combination with the agile handling and the good flare attributes, this results in a wing that is very easy to manage. The combi-riser system with two attachment points proves Nova's aspiration for comfort and simplicity.
The SPEEDMAX 2 is a high-performance paramotor wing, which is not suitable for beginners. The wing is designed for recreational and advanced pilots.
For additional queries, your NOVA dealer will be happy to advise on the correct wing.
A soft-reflex profile allows the pilot to adjust the profile setting of the wing. With the trimmers released, the reflexed trailing edge maintains the stability of the wing.
Closing the trimmers reduces the reflex in the trailing edge and the profile is equal to a standard paraglider. This brings advantages to the launch and extreme flight behaviour as well as the handling.
Flat profile nose - Anyone who tries to fold a piece of paper around a ball will notice that there are always creases. The nose profile of a paraglider is the same - the sail cloth has to adjust to both the profile and ballooning effect (cells are round, not straight). Double 3D Shaping uses additional seams to reduce creasing and therefore increases the performance of the wing.
Optimised cell widths - Smart Cells counteract the variable force distribution within the wing that are caused by the line attachments. In NOVA paragliders constructed using Smart Cells, the cell widths have been adapted to the load - basically, intelligent cells. Wings with Smart Cells fly more calmly, are more compact and glide better.
Less is more - Nova's idea of a three-liner with a reduced amount of line length allows us to construct wings with very good performance and a high degree of passive safety. The way Nova has conceptualised the lines has made it possible to manufacture wings which are collapse resistant; but when they do collapse, the collapsed area is generally less extensive. This significantly improves the wing‘s extreme flight behaviour.
Comfort on the ground - All NOVA paragliders are made to be easy to use. For packing, you can use a concertina bag, but it is not essential. Nova's extensive experience with rods has taught us that the packing method has little influence on the durability of the wing. Bent rods quickly spring back into their original shape.

Service Info & FAQs
What is a MENTOR?
The MENTOR is a conventional wing which has become a class of its own. MENTORs dominate the XC rankings and are famous for their exceptional performance and high passive safety. Many of the wing's characteristics are also applicable to motorised flying and therefore it was used as a basis for the design of the SPEEDMAX.
Is the SPEEDMAX 2 certified for free-flight?
The SPEEDMAX 2 is designed and certified for motorised flying. It is aimed at advanced, enthusiastic paramotor pilots. The ION and MENTOR are designed as performance paragliders which are excellent for free-flight and paramotoring.
Is a reflex profile safer than a conventional profile?
A reflex profile increases the stability of the wing. In strong turbulence, the wing can still collapse. Very pronounced reflex profiles generally exhibit dynamic reactions to collapses. Categorically stating that reflex profiles are safer is therefore incorrect.
Why is there no tip steering?
The reflex profile of the SPEEDMAX 2 is not very pronounced, even with fully open trimmers. Pulling the brakes only marginally affects the stability. Therefore adding tip steering, with all the added complexity, is not necessary.
