Ozone Rapido (PAST MODEL)

As speed flying and speed riding wings have evolved, so has pilot skill, experience, and methodology. The Rapido is a new design for pilots who are pushing the limits of steep carving flights, low barrel rolls, and long swoops. With a slightly higher aspect ratio and a more dynamic and agile character than the Fazer series, the Rapido is designed specifically for experienced speed flying pilots. A wider glide range and a higher trim speed and wider acceleration window set this wing apart from the other speed wings in our range.
FEATURES (COMPARED TO FAZER SERIES):
- Increased trim range
- Higher top speed
- Higher efficiency at flat angles of attack (increased glide performance)
- Steeper angle of attack with trimmers out
- More dynamic and responsive handling
- Even greater swoop potential
“The Rapido is an entirely different animal from the Fazer series. It is more efficient but at the same time can be flown at steeper angles. The swoops are crazy, and it’s possible to pull barrel rolls without even losing altitude. This is an incredibly dynamic and exciting speed wing to fly - compared to other advanced wings on the market, the Rapido has more direct control input, a more compact feel, and a firmer and more sensitive feel on the brakes.”
-Cade Palmer, Ozone Team Pilot
“This wing is a significant step up from the Fazer series, and I love the range on the trimmers - I can fly super fast lines in both flatter and steeper terrain than is possible with lower aspect ratio wings. The tradeoff is that the overall handling is more advanced, but the possibilities of this wing are massive.”
-Malachi Templeton, Ozone Team Pilot
The Rapido is meant only for experienced speed flying and speed riding pilots, and is not acceptable for beginners or pilots who are new to speed flying, speed riding, or paragliding.
The Rapido requires active piloting: even though the wingloading of speed wings generally contributes to stability, the Rapido is meant only for experienced pilots who are able to effectively pilot their wing in active air. Skydivers without paragliding experience or low-airtime paraglider pilots may not have the skill and experience to safely pilot the Rapido in active air. The Fazer series remains the optimum choice for pilots who are entering this exciting branch of paragliding.
THE RAPIDO “7″
Over the past year our team pilots have been testing a new very small Rapido. This wing is actually sub-seven meters in flat surface area, but we’re referring to it as a 7m. Even if the pilot is very light, and flying this wing with low wingloading, it is still the most advanced speed wing that we have ever made. It is strictly for expert speed flyers with several years of experience. The glide is steep, the turns have a very high sink rate, and the recovery arc is relatively long – allowing for incredible swoop landings. The 7m is available by special request from OZONE Speed dealers.

ABOUT CUSTOM COLOURS
Ozone encourages you to customize your own personal colour combination for your wing. Customization generally incurs a small fee. Once you’ve decided you can share your design with your friends, or if you are ready to order, send it to your local Ozone dealer to check if there is a charge and place the final order.
Please note that because the glider will be built specifically for you in the Ozone factory, payment must be received before production can begin.
FABRIC COLOUR AND UV RESISTANCE
Please be aware that the colour you see on your screen may not accurately represent the actual fabric colour. Given the wide varience in monitor calibration and the fabric appearance in different light and colour combinations, it is impossible to perfectly represent fabric colour on screen. If you have any doubts about the colours, look at photos of various wings on our website to see them in different light and colour combinations or contact your local dealer to see the fabric in person.
All of the fabric that we use undergoes extensive testing in prototype colour phase to ensure colourfastness, mechanical stability, porosity, and general longevity before we put it into production. Once our fabric is in production, every meter of it is rigorously inspected upon arrival in our factory, and fabric which does not pass our stringent quality control standards is returned to the manufacturer. We are frequently asked, "Which colours last the longest, or have the best UV resistance?" All of the colours that we stock score between 4 and 5 on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest possible rating for longevity.
