Gin Soft Shackle: textile soft link
The Soft Shackle can be used for webbing-to-webbing connections, e.g. between your reserve parachute and reserve bridle or between the harness hang points and wing's risers, as an ultralight replacement for a metal maillon or carabiner.
Compared to a metal maillon, the Gin Soft shackle is much lighter with a similar breaking strength when new. It features a locking system to prevent slippage under load and is easy to undo without tools.
- Certification: EAPR-BT-0348/15 (01/2022)
- Load rating: 25 kN* (Certification requirement 24 kN)
- Weight: 7 g each*
Flybubble notes*
Load rating: The manual (v.2.1, 04/2015) stated "Max Breaking Load: 26,700 N (2722kg)." However, the latest certification report (01/2022) confirms 25,725 N (25.725 kN), making their updated 25 kN rating correct.
Weight: We checked the weight of several shackles on two separate scales, and they weighed approx. 8.2-8.3g complete with the "elastic."

Gin Soft Shackle v2 video (showing optional elastic, not included)
Below is a video with instructions of how to fit the Gin Soft Shackle.
Note: Gin Gliders recommends using "tape" (not included) around the ends of the webbing to prevent rotation but we recommend using rubber bands (cheapest), O-rings or a suitable neoprene cover (best) instead. See the Related Products tab for options.

WARNING: If not connected correctly the Soft Shackle may fail.
IMPORTANT: The Soft Shackle must be held in place to prevent excess friction.
NOTE: It is the pilot’s responsibility to check compatibility and proper installation.
Note: Gin Gliders do not include the "tape" they refer to in the manual as a way to prevent rotation; this is just a suggestion, to give an idea. We recommend using rubber bands (cheapest), O-rings or a suitable neoprene cover (best) instead. See the Related Products tab for options.
Note: Due to the splicing process, some thinning or kinking in soft links is normal and purely cosmetic—not a defect.
