The pilot
The Ozo 2.1 is designed for hike & fly adventures where light weight is key, but comfort and ease of use is still a priority. It is suitable for pilots of all levels.
The tech
In backpack mode, the Ozo 2.1 is designed for speedy and comfortable ascents. Inspired by trail-running packs, the wide and breathable shoulder straps spread the load comfortably with solid support and allow carriage of two easily accessible water bottles.
You'll find plenty of storage available - multiple exterior pockets and a removable helmet stow system allow you to bring everything you need whether you're going for a quick trail-run or on a longer hike & fly mission.
The 30 Liter volume fits all sizes of the Ultralite and XXLite, and similar wings in the class.
The transition to flight mode is quick and easy. EVA foam leg padding makes longer flights comfortable. A lightweight speed bar is included with the harness.
The Ozo 2.1 is certified per EN 1651-2017 for pilots up to 120kg
In flight
Detachable leg straps make gearing up simple whether you're wearing boots, crampons, or skis. the harness geometry makes the transition from upright to seated very smooth. Generous lumbar support and padded shoulder straps allow for comfortable soaring sessions and long descents.
Protection
To compliment this unique harness, Ozone has designed the OzAir back-protection - a sleek new ultralight inflatable protector optimised for both advanced hike-and-fly expeditions, as well as high-wind soaring.
The OzAir weighs only 460grams, is certified at 31.7 g max. peak, and is quickly inflated prior to launch, providing protection even when navigating technical take-offs.
Its slim design also allows the full-sprint required under mountain wings, setting it apart from airbags of the past - and encouraging its use also by all pilots.
Pilot review
Hike and fly is part of my weekly routine and I found the Ozo 2.1 to be the perfect partner for those missions.
It isn't always easy to find a reversible harness/rucksack that's also comfortable for women's anatomy but when I tried the Ozo 2.1, I was in love right away.
In rucksack mode, it fits all my gear and clothing and it's comfortable during the hike. Having a water flask right on your shoulder is super practical and time saving. I also love the external pockets that can easily hold my phone, snacks, and keys.
On take off, the Ozo 2.1 is super practical because all I have to do is turn it inside out and I'm ready to go. Having the choice of putting the legstraps on or leaving them attached is great depending on the season and the mission.
In the air, sitting in the harness is effortless, its stability is the best I've ever seen on this kind of harness while remaining playful for a fun ride.
