The Sport 4 is still one of the leading designs in the intermediate class and
It was a big challenge to improve it.
A highly upgraded Airwave Research and Development team needed a good look "out of the box" to find new ways for glider improvement.
Intensive research in para glider aerodynamics were performed as well as calculations towards less drag, higher lift and higher stability using new computer programs and in combination with numerous hours of flight testing in all kind of different flying conditions.
The result is the Sport 5.
Compared to the Sport 4 and also Sport Competition the SPORT 5 has a better glide ratio and a lower sink rate. It also has a lower lift off speed on take off. Handling is nice and overall flight characteristics are easier and more straight forward. It climbs very good in thermals and cuts threw the air with great performance
