SQR Light 2: The Lightweight Reserve
The SQR Light makes no compromises: As the lightest rescuer ever, the second generation offers even lower sink rates combined with high pendulum stability. It is made from the latest high-end materials, which have been specially optimised for rescues. Thanks to innovative Square Round technology, the SQR Light has an extremely fast opening behaviour.
Due to its low weight and minimal packing volume, it is the first choice of many athletes, including X-Alps series winner Chrigel Maurer. The SQR Light is the ideal companion for hike & fly and hike to fly and is also available as a tandem version.

The unique SQUARE ROUND technology heralds a new generation of reserve parachute, merging the advantages of the classic round canopy and the cross version into an innovative and forward-looking product. Countless computer simulations and practical tests have been an essential part of the extensive development process. The result is a reserve with aerodynamically enhanced pendulum stability, trimmed not to track in flight.

SQR technology: modern CFD simulation as an analytical method
All Companion rescue models are based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD*) analysis, which has been verified by a lot of practical testing. At the core of CFD analysis is an iterative system which repeatedly recalculates an analysis of the deformation and strain on the reserve in the air.
This is an important aspect for reserve parachute analysis because their pronounced curvature means they deform a lot. Having our own simulation software and test vehicle means we are able to carry out many numerical CFD analyses, as well as deployment tests. Currently this approach is unique in rescue parachute development.

The production
Companion is a joint venture between ADVANCE paragliders and EVOTEC.
The development of innovative reserve-related products is an ongoing process, always based on scientific findings and the latest development and testing methods. All Companion reserves are manufactured in EVOTEC’s own production plant in Hungary and distributed worldwide by ADVANCE.
