ZOOM XA LT: LIGHT COMFORT
WEIGHTLESS FUN
The well-known and already appreciated ZOOM launch- and thermalhandling could be refined on the XA LT using the carefully selected light materials. This makes the XA LT safe and a perfect companion for the first Hike and Fly as well as thermal adventures.
EASY, LIGHT & SAFE
The main focus during the development of the XA LT has been set the easiness in start- flight and landing handling. In addition, keeping the high wing-stability in turbulent conditions as well as the high passive safety has been another focus for the XA LT. With its sophisticated mix in line- and sailfabrics the XA LT is light and easy to pack. Despite that, Alex H. decided to keep the XA LT robust by not pushing it to the lowest weight limits. Some certain sail areas as well as some lines have been strengthened to cope with harsh and demanding hike and fly activities. This makes XA LT a perfect choice for pilots who are looking for a thermal and hike and fly wing.
Target pilot group
With the new ZOOM XA LT can cover a broad range of pilot’s demand. It comes with very light weight and is easy to pack and is therefore an ideal wing for Hike and Fly. With the XA well known and appreciated high stability in combination with its outstanding performance the XA LT is a perfect match for the first Thermal- and Crosscountry flights. Due to its sophisticated light wing design, the launch- and turnhandling could be even more improved. In summary the XA LT is a wing for many areas of flying. It covers all demands of a training wing, but is the perfect choice for the first wing after the training as well as for the first thermal adventures and Hike and Fly events.

PERFORMANCE & SAFETY - ASPECTS
Flight characteristics
EASY HANDLING
Due to the elaborated light wing design of the XA LT, the launching ability has been improved significantly. The wing needs very little input to fill and rise but don´t tends to shoot forward due to its pitch stable wingdesign. This ability gives the pilot enough time to control the XA LT even in demanding launch sites. Low possible take off speeds and therefore short take off distances are another highlight of the lightwing design of the XA LT. The thermal handling, which is already valued from pilots on the XA, could be redefined even further on the XA LT. During flying in thermals the XA LT can be flown with a pleasant low but precise brake pressure, which progressively and safety wise increases throughout its range. Finally, all required training manoeuvres as big ears, B-Stall etc. can be safely flown with the XA LT.
Safety
LIGHT AND SAFE
Alex Höllwarth sets very high attention to the safety relevant aspects of a beginner wing. For the launch abilities the XA LT could be improved once more, making the wing easy to start even at demanding sites. In the air the XA LT gets pilot safe feedback due to its high roll and pitch stability. The high collapse resistance combination with the easy and forgiving handling makes the XA LT a reliable companion for the first thermal and cross-country adventures. The brake pressure throughout the normal flight range is comfortable low but gets significantly higher coming to the slow flight regime. This makes the approach to stall easy to detect and avoidable.
Features
- Shark Nose - optimized airflow at the leading edge
- Rigidfoil - wrikle free wing at leading edge
- Dual 3D Shaping - Reduced ballooning and wrikle free wing at leading edge
- LE (Leading edge) Miniribs - made of internal stitch technique – enhances the wrinkle free finish of the leading edge. Results in top glide performance especially during accelerated flying.
- TE (Trailing edge) Miniribs - made of internal stitch technique – enhances static stability on the trailing edge of the wing.
- Dirthole
- Airflow simulation software by Hannes Papesh – performance increase due to optimized cell design and wing canopy finish
