TEQUILA4 | the classic intermediate glider
Enjoy the freedom!
It’s good to know that there’s a glider that meets all your demands – whether you just fly for fun or want to be the highest in your house thermal, make challenging XC flights, or if you’re just beginning your training. With the new TEQUILA4, skywalk brings modern CHILI3 technology to the leisure class! The TEQUILA series was always known for its passive safety combined with lots of performance potential and absolutely uncomplicated handling. That’s why skywalk didn’t push the design of the TEQUILA4 to the limit.
The latest technologies such as mini ribs, 3D shaping, rigid foils and a reduced total line length turn this pure bred 3-liner into a high performance wing for its class - even as pilot demand remains manageable. This all-round glider will thrill you with its very direct but light handling and super glide performance and a top speed that is high for its class. Thanks to its low weight and the use of rigid foils, launching the TEQUILA4 is child’s play. And it’s fun to fly! Whether you’re a talented novice or an XC pilot: the EN-B certified TEQUILA was and is an excellent choice for many pilots.
Flying
The TEQUILA4 is a real pleasure wing. It launches super easily, has great handling, and its climb performance is outstanding. With its superb glide performance and relatively high maximum speed, you can enjoy long XC flights while feeling safe because the T4 has plenty of safety reserve. The T4 is quite forgiving, making it the right choice for talented beginners. We even classify the glider as suitable for training because its extreme flight behavior doesn’t even come close to exhausting the limits of the EN/LTF-B category.
Performance
For a glider with this safety potential, the TEQUILA4’s performance is really phenomenal. Like its big brother, the CHILI3, it climbs extraordinarily well and its fantastic glider performance will blow your mind. If you have XC ambitions, it makes a lot of sense to use an aerodynamic harness with the T4 to take full advantage of its potential. Thanks to its agile but forgiving handling, it’s easy to latch onto thermals and stay and top.
Safety
The TEQUILA4 is an EN-B glider, but we declare it to be suitable for training because of its gentle reaction to disturbances. Brake line travel up to the stall point is long thanks to JET FLAPS. Control pressure is comfortably light in the upper range and increases markedly as you pull. Like our other gliders, the TEQUILA4 passed DHV certification without the use of folding lines. If safety is your main concern, the T4 is your ideal companion. It’s also ideally suited to pilots who are a little rusty or only have the chance to fly now and then.
2 Plus 2
For all gliders purchased after July 1, 2007, Skywalk offers its customers the skywalk 2 + 2 Guarantee - an additional warranty that goes beyond the minimum required by law.
Jet Flaps
By narrowing the cross section of the slit (channel), Jet Flaps create a Venturi effect that accelerates the airflow. The air is redirected from the lower sail (pressure area) to the upper sail (suction area) where it exits. Airflow separation is delayed, the stall occurs later, minimum speed is reduced, and the pilot has more angle of attack reserve. This is a considerable benefit during critical phases like launch, landing and tight thermals. More information
Hybrid Line Geometry
The perfect mix of Aramid and Dyneema lines maximizes durability and minimizes trim changes over the lifecycle of your glider. This optimal use of line materials lowers air resistance and minimizes weight.
3 Line Levels
True 3-line technology with greatly reduced drag for more performance and easier line sorting. Three line levels from the risers to the wing without line junctions.
Rigid Foil
The leading edge is reinforced with flexible nylon battens. The result is a substantial weight savings that positively affects the handling in extreme conditions. The Rigid Foil technology gives that the leading edge maintains an optimal shape to ensure even airflow over the wing and a constant ram air pressure. The wing glides better, especially in accelerated flight. During launch, the battens hold leading edge open, making inflation a snap.
Especially Robust Materials
Use of special, long-life materials that maintain their characteristics even in hard use.
Mini Ribs
Doubling of the cell in the region of the trailing edge: increased shape stability, less resistance, more performance.
3D-Shaping
Fitting of an additional band: precisely shaped wing, less resistance, more performance.
Narrow Risers
Use of narrow materials for risers: but the handling is slightly more sophisticated.
C-wires
Nylon reinforcement over the C suspension point in the upper sail instead of lines: less resistance, more performance.
Construction
The TEQUILA4 uses quite a few construction details from the CHILI3. But unlike the CHILI3, the T4 sports three main lines per level and per side. Despite this, it still only has an averages total line length of 240m.
Rigid Foils
Rigid Foils in the leading edge ensure a light profile contour with a stable shape. C-wires dampen the wing’s trailing edge and help the TEQUILA4 take full advantage of every thermal. All reinforcements are made of indestructible plastic and are bend resistant. A special packing method is unnecessary.
Lines & Sail
We have equipped the TEQUILA4 completely with sheathed lines. This makes them very robust and suitable for regular use. The T4 also uses the proven hybrid line concept, adjusted for different load cases. Thanks to its clever design, the TEQUILA4 in size S uses only 230m of lines, which boosts performance enormously. Regarding the wing fabric, we chose the high quality Porcher materials that keep the weight down while offering a high degree of durability.
Mini Ribs
Mini Ribs on the trailing edge improve brake behavior and ensure better form drag. The optimized brake line gathering system reduces control pressure. 3D-shaping behind the leading edge on the upper sail ensures fewer wrinkles and also contributes to an advantageous form drag.
