The LYNX 2 is BGD'S lightweight EN-C wing. It has excellent cross-country performance with a high comfort factor for its class. It is made to inspire confidence in even the strongest flying conditions, and to keep you safe while you find your wild side in the mountains.
They chose a 2.5-liner hybrid design for this wing for several reasons: a fully fledged two-liner would need more supporting rods in the sail, leading to a larger pack volume.
The Lynx 2 is also much easier to ‘mush’ in for a safe top-landing in a wild place, as the three-liner layout in the glider centre gives a large brake range and forgiving stall characteristics. It’s also amazingly easy to launch.

Like a mirage, the long-haired, lanky lynx mysteriously melts into the mist of the morning. Only a few lucky people ever see a lynx. – Brainerd Dispatch, Minnesota
Target
The Lynx 2 is the perfect partner for cross-country pilots who travel light and free, and for those who move swiftly through their habitat, leaving no trace. It’s perfect for hike-and-fly races in mountain environments, where its efficiency and performance come with excellent safety and relaxed handling, and ideal for the new serial-class competitions. It’s competitive, and also accessible to pilots stepping up from B-class.
FLYING LEVEL / STYLE
Designer's notes
"At 3.2kg to 4.3kg across five sizes, the LYNX 2 is among the lightest wings in its category, but that does not mean durability has been sacrificed. We used 32g/m2 cloth in strategic places to reinforce the leading edge where it most needs it. We have also sacrificed a few grams in the risers, choosing easy-handling Kevlar-reinforced 12mm webbing rather than shoelace-style Dyneema.
The LYNX 2 is more accessible and easier to fly than the CURE 2, with a slightly lower aspect ratio and cell count.
Light, reactive and precise handling and its feeling of performance gives it a two-liner feel and similar performance, but it has the safety, light rear-riser steering, and handling characteristics of a three-liner. Tyr flew a pre-production LYNX 2 in Costa Rica, and said it’s really relaxing in strong, turbulent conditions. “You can do almost the whole flight on the rear-risers!”.
An impressive brake range and good slow-speed behaviour mean the LYNX 2 is easy to top-land or sneak into small spaces. It’s one of the reasons we went for a 2.5-line hybrid design rather than a two-liner.
The new-design risers have an updated speed system action and a light and effective rear-riser steering system. The LYNX 2 is impressively efficient on bar!
The LYNX 2 uses our innovative Spiral Safety System. A rib without cross port vents just inboard from the stabi means that the tip cells lose pressure when the glider is in a deep spiral dive. This helps the glider exit automatically from the deepest spirals on its own without any pilot input."- Bruce Goldsmith
Features
PROGRESSIVE STABILITY
Using ALULA, BGD gliders are designed to have a stable and solid centre with progressively softer tips. This teaches pilots to predict and avoid deflations and stav aware of the air.
STRONG SHARK NOSE
An ultra aggressive shark nose optimises stability at all speeds. Not all sharks are created equal and BGD's shark noses are very aggressive, maximising the effects of the technology.
MAXIMISED UNSUPPORTED CELLS
Optimised unsupported cell groups are designed to match the span-wise load distribution influenced by the line layout. Coupled with a strong internal structure, the line layouts that create more span-wise tension can support more unsupported cells. While maintaining a homogenous wing, this helps to minimise line consumption reducing drag thus improving performance,
CHORD CUT BILLOW (CCB)
Chord Cut Billow technology has been developed to improve the form friction, glider stability and overall performance of our paragliders. Two seams run chord-wise across the top panels of the leading edge. They accommodate the panel ballooning that happens when the wing is inflated. Without CCB, up to five centimetres of excess material is created on the sides of an inflated flat panel when it bends over a wing profile. This results in wrinkles. Chord Cut Billow technology removes this excess material and the 3D panel has fewer ripples and improved rib profile shape and stability.
SPIRAL SAFETY SYSTEM
A rib without cross port vents iust before the stabi means that the tip cells lose pressure when the glider is in a spiral dive which helps the glider recover automatically from a deep spiral on its own without any pilot input.
EASY-HANDLING RISERS
We have also sacrificed a few grams in the risers, choosing easy-handling Kevlar-reinforced12mm webbing rather than shoelace-styleDyneema.
LIGHT/DURABLE PORCHER CLOTHS
At 3.2kg to 4.3kg across five sizes, the LYNX 2 is among the lightest wings in its category, but that does not mean durability has been sacrificed. BGD used 32g/m2 cloth in strategic places to reinforce the leading edge where it most needs it.
SHORT PLASTIC RODS
Thanks to the 2.5 liner layout the Lynx 2 maintains a clean shape while using short plastics only in the leading edge making it lighter and easier to pack.
INTEGRATED LINE LAYOUT
The line layout of our gliders is fully integrated into the wing design. Sail and lines are designed together, holistically. The cell widths and the internal straps that transfer the load though the sail are all designed according to the line layout. Even the panel shaping is matched with the line layout though detailed CAD simulation. The result is simple: fewer lines and stronger, faster, safer gliders.
HIGH PERFORMANCE 2.5 LINER
The Lynx 2 utilises a three-liner layout in the centre and a two- liner layout at this tip. Using this hybrid layout allows the Lynx 2 to benefit from a longer brake range, less weight, higher performance, and better safety.
SNAP LOCKS
Snap Locks are lightweight, compact attachments that connect the brakes to the risers. A small focused magnet inside the catch and an internal locking system hold the handle in place, releasing only if the handles are pulled down towards the pilot. This unique design feature means the handles don't fall off while kiting, packing, or performing manoeuvres. The Snap Lock system solves many of the problems associated with press-studs and magnets.
BGD FEEDBACK
Gliders that talk are safer. Safer gliders make pilots perform better. Better performing pilots fly further. Further flying pilots are happier pilots. BGD Feedback produces happier pilots!
Review
“The BGD Lynx 2 M is a light, agile, and performance-oriented EN-C glider with a reduced aspect ratio of 6.2. It offers easy launching, precise handling, and efficient climbing in thermals. With its good glide performance and high passive safety, it performs well alongside other 2-liner C class gliders. The Lynx 2 M exhibits moderate roll movement but maintains stability in turbulent conditions. The C riser controls and speed bar pressure are well-balanced, and the glider is fun to maneuver. Overall, the Lynx 2 is a light, agile, easy to launch, small to pack, pleasurable to fly glider with plenty of performance. IMHO, for that specific wide group of pilots wanting a balanced glider for all-terrain use, it is definitely a good companion for a hike and fly or XC."
