The Supair DELIGHT 5 is the latest evolution of Supair’s popular DELIGHT pod harness range. It sits in the semi-light category, offering a good balance of low weight, comfort, protection and performance.

Compared with the previous version, the DELIGHT 5 is around 10% lighter and includes a number of refinements throughout the harness. Rather than being an ultra-light specialist harness, it aims to be a practical, comfortable pod for everyday XC flying.

Stable, comfortable and responsive

One of the things we like most about the DELIGHT 5 is its balance between stability and handling.

It feels very stable and supportive in turbulent air, without becoming dull or disconnected from the wing. There is still plenty of weight-shift authority, and the harness is capable of wingovers and more dynamic flying.

It doesn't have the very dynamic, "wangy" feel of some harnesses, but for XC flying we think the extra stability and comfort are a real advantage.

Support and protection

The back support is excellent. A thick foam section runs high up the back, providing good support and additional protection while also giving the harness more structure.

The moderate-length tail fairing keeps the harness clean and stable without feeling cumbersome.

The DELIGHT 5 also has a good amount of rear storage for a harness in this weight class, including a dedicated water section and easy-access zips.

Reserve system

SUPAIR has refined the reserve system, with a clean bridle exit that reduces the chance of the risers interfering with the zipper.

The reserve handle is also held securely in position using loops and pockets rather than relying heavily on Velcro. It's easy to locate and grab, while staying neatly tucked away during normal flying.

Good adjustment and build quality

The harness has a wide, supportive chassis and very neat stitching throughout.

There are plenty of adjustment options, but they are straightforward to use. The adjustment tabs are easy to find and operate, even with gloves.

The carbon footplate has nicely finished edges, and the small carbon seatboard gives the harness a precise feel without adding the weight and bulk of a larger seatboard.

Speed system

The three-step speed bar is lightweight and works very well.

The pulley geometry gives a smooth, light action, with very little pressure being transferred into the back. This is particularly noticeable when spending long periods on bar during XC flights.

There's also useful storage underneath the seat, while the foam protector keeps things simple — there's no need to inflate or deflate anything.

Easy pod entry

Getting into the pod is noticeably easier than on the DELIGHT 4.

We found it easy to get our feet into position without needing a bungee, although one can be fitted if preferred.

This makes the DELIGHT 5 particularly user-friendly for pilots moving into their first pod harness.

Flight deck

The flight deck has also been significantly improved.

It provides easy access to the storage area, has a useful internal divider and includes a rear pocket for a power bank. There are also cable openings for running USB-C or other instrument cables.

It's a good size, stiff enough to support instruments properly, and easy to use in flight.

Overall

Overall, we're very impressed with the Supair DELIGHT 5.

It combines relatively low weight and compact packing with excellent comfort, support and build quality. It's stable enough to be comfortable in turbulence while still providing good handling and connection with the wing.

We think it's particularly well suited as a first pod harness, but there's enough comfort, protection and capability here for experienced pilots and long XC flights too.

The DELIGHT 5 is a well-rounded, practical pod harness that should suit a wide range of pilots — from those making the move into a pod to experienced XC pilots looking for a lighter, comfortable setup.

Light, comfortable, supportive and easy to fly — the DELIGHT 5 is a very capable all-round XC harness.
