TYPHOON: Adventure beyond

The TYPHOON is a little bit sportier and a little bit faster than the BLIZZARD, and will be the choice of pilots with wide-ranging experience. Choose to fly a bit lower in the weight range for slightly more chilled reactions if you’re lighter on experience.

Key Features

  • Effortless Launching: Thanks to a lightweight sail (only 4.2kg for the size 20), the Typhoon rises cleanly and stabilizes overhead, making it ideal for tricky take-offs.
  • Easy Reflex Profile: Experience incredible pitch stability at speed, allowing you to cruise cross-country with total confidence.
  • Roller Cam Trimmers: New smooth-action brass roller-cams ensure slip-free, easy adjustments on the fly, reducing wear on your webbing.
  • Tip-Steering Toggles (TST): Standard-fit toggles allow for precise directional control without touching the brakes—perfect for accelerated flight.
  • Versatile Risers: Ready for both high and low hangpoint paramotors, ensuring a perfect fit for your specific frame.

Target

Ready to ride out the calm and kick up some fun? The TYPHOON is a reflex progression wing for paramotor pilots who want to push further, fly faster, and add a little extra spice to their sky-time. With a 5.14 aspect ratio and three sizes (20, 23, 26), it’s designed for stable performance with a playful edge. The launch is a breeze. An easy inflation then it stabilises overhead and hangs out there happily till you’re ready to roll. The handling is crisp, and it’s trimmed for high energy while keeping that BGD ease and confidence. If you're ready to stir up some air and keep climbing the skill ladder, it’s the perfect storm for intermediate pilots looking to level up.

Bruce's notes

The TYPHOON is easy to launch and forgiving to fly, but still wakes up your senses in the sky. The aspect ratio of 5.14 adds a touch of glide and precision, while the updated reflex profile keeps it rock-solid at speed. The trimmers have a 12cm range, with smooth brass roller-cams for durability and ease of use, and a speedbar system adds another 12cm of acceleration. Tip-steering toggles come as standard, and the risers are versatile with both high and low hangpoints. Launching is super clean and intuitive thanks to the solid nose and optimised line layout. Whether you're cruising cross-country or carving around clouds, the Typhoon turns every flight into a joyride.

Features

BGD Parasim

The future of glider design depends largely on simulations. Instead of designing and producing prototypes one by one, our unique in-house structural / aero simulation program, BGD Parasim, enables us to accurately simulate hundreds of virtual prototypes. We test over 200 virtual prototypes for each paraglider, using 50 million iterations of the structural / aero calculations.

Chord cut billow (CCB)

Chord Cut Billow technology has been developed to improve the form friction, glider stability and overall performance of BGD paragliders. Two seams run chord-wise across the top panels of the leading edge. They accommodate the panel ballooning that happens when the wing is inflated. Without CCB, up to five centimeters of excess material is created on the sides of an inflated flat panel when it bends over a wing profile. This results in wrinkles. Chord Cut Billow technology removes this excess material and the 3D panel has fewer ripples and improved rib profile shape and stability.

Progressive stability

Using ALULA, BGD gliders are designed to have a stable and solid center with progressively softer tips. This teaches pilots to predict and avoid deflations and stay aware of the air.

EASY REFLEX PROFILE

The TYPHOON features a new gentle reflex profile that improves stability at speed and easy enough for beginners.

ROLLER CAM TRIMMERS

A new roller-cams, which are slip-free, easy and smooth to operate while reducing wear on the webbing.

Snap Locks

Snap Locks are lightweight, compact attachments that connect the brakes to the risers. A small focused magnet inside the catch and an internal locking system hold the handle in place, releasing only if the handles are pulled down towards the pilot. This unique design feature means the handles don’t fall off while kiting, packing, or performing manoeuvres. The Snap Lock system solves many of the problems associated with press studs and magnets.

High or low hangpoint ready

In order to maximise versatility this wing caters to both low and high hangpoint paramotors. Brake pulley loops, tip-steering pulleys and snap locks are fitted for both positions, making the switch quick and easy.

Tip Steering Toggles (TST)

The tip steering toggles allow for simple and efficient directional control without using the brakes when flying accelerated. The tip-steering and brake handles are separate, but there is an attachment loop on the brake handle to attach the tip-steering lines to, converting them for 2D steering. This allows more precise control of the wing, but is an advanced technique so BGD has made it optional.
