Advance EASINESS 4 reversible harness review
- by Carlo Borsattino
First Impressions: Versatile and Fun
In our opinion, the Advance Easiness 4 is an absolutely fantastic lightweight, compact, reversible harness. It’s incredibly versatile. We really enjoy using it, especially when playing around on the ground. It excels at ground handling, and it’s excellent for both takeoff and landing. Getting back into the harness is easy—it’s smooth and effortless. We’ve never felt the need to reach down or push—it just works. The comfort level is astounding.
A Better Split-Leg Harness Design
Many split-leg harnesses tend to have too much of a scooped-up feeling—like a big hand lifting you, which can make getting your feet down tricky. That’s not the case with the Easiness 4. Advance has made it easy to transition in and out. You do need to push your hips forward a little, but overall, it’s very straightforward
Lightweight, Compact, Yet Surprisingly Comfortable
One of the key points about the Easiness 4 is how Advance has continued the successful formula from the Easiness 3—and even to some extent the Easiness 2. It’s not an ultralight string harness, but it strikes a perfect balance by being light and compact while offering an impressive amount of comfort. It’s also highly versatile.
Perfect for Mini Wings and Parakites
It’s great for soaring, thermaling, and just messing about at the local site. And it’s brilliant if you want to fly mini wings or parakites—it gives a really nice feeling. The Easiness 3 was already our go-to for that kind of fun flying, and now the Easiness 4 has taken over. It’s our preferred harness for mini wings and parakites.
My Go-To Harness for Testing Gliders
We also use this harness when testing gliders. It’s light, compact, easy to use, and super comfortable. When we want to travel light and keep things simple, this is our harness of choice.
Excellent for Ground Handling and Playing Around
It’s a fantastic ground handling harness. Whether you’re top landing, flying a little hill, or off on a hike-and-fly mission, this harness can handle it. It’s even great for coastal flying thanks to its playful character and excellent feel.
Improved Comfort and Simplicity
Like the Easiness 3, the Easiness 4 brings even greater comfort and an improved feeling of control. It gets back to the simplicity of paragliding—that feeling of why many of us started in the first place. Lightweight, compact, and simple.
Who It’s Not For
This isn’t the harness for pilots focused on performance or maximum aerodynamics. It’s also not aimed at those prioritising absolute minimal weight—like para-alpinists or hardcore hike-and-fly racers.
Who It’s For: Suitable Pilots and Use Cases
This harness is actually suitable even as a first harness or for training. Many pilots get it as a second harness, especially if they already have a pod harness for XC flying. It’s also popular as a tandem passenger harness—many don’t even fit a reserve in for that use. It’s a flexible and well-loved choice.
Balanced Weight-Shift and Good Feedback
The Easiness 4 offers great weight-shift authority without being twitchy. It’s on the playful side, and the feedback is moderate—not overly dampened, but not too sharp either. You can feel lift and bumps, and use weight shift to react naturally.
Outstanding Build Quality and Durability
Advance’s build quality really stands out. It’s not just good-looking—it’s made to last. From what we’ve seen (and heard from independent service centres), Advance harnesses outlast most of the competition in this weight class. The quality really does translate into durability.
Key Technical Features and Layout
The Easiness 4 weighs just over 2 kg. It’s an airbag harness, with a neatly integrated speed system and reserve (right side), complete with tidy bridle routing. The reserve deploys you into a feet-down position, which is ideal.
Storage and Wing Compatibility
Storage is decent, but clearly designed with lightweight wings in mind—something like the Pi 3, Epsilon DLS or Theta ULS. Those fit nicely. If your wing is bulky with rods and heavy reinforcement, it might be a squeeze.
Comparison With Other Advance Harnesses
If you want more durability or performance but still prefer an open harness, Advance has options. The Boundless is the next step up—reversible with a seatboard. Then there’s the Access 5 (lighter and more affordable), and the Success 5 at the top. We’ve reviewed all of these too.
Instruments and Cockpit Mounting Options
The Syride SYS’One V3 is a great match. We found velcroing it to the chest strap gives a really good viewing angle. For more advanced setups, the Naviter Omni with Deluxe leg mount is excellent—it stays put and is easy to read in flight. Supair cockpit? Easy to fit—just loop it around the carabiner straps and it sits well once you’re in the air.
A Brilliant Little Backpack
The Easiness 4 backpack is a real step up from the Easiness 3—borrowing from the Lightpack ULS. It fits a wing like the PHI SOLA GT 20 easily, and the whole thing sits nicely on your back. Wider shoulder straps, a waist strap with adjustable clips, side pockets (even fit smartphones), hydration compatibility—it’s well designed and super comfy. It's not for bulky wings, but for light setups, it’s perfect.
Summary: A Harness That Brings Back the Joy of Paragliding
Reversing it into a backpack is quick and easy with quality zips and thoughtful design. We tried a range of gliders—the Sola GT, standard SOLA, and SOLA UL—and they all fit with room to spare. Honestly, it brings the joy back into paragliding. Light, simple, comfortable—just a really well-thought-out harness.
