BHPA School & Instructors

Flybubble is a BHPA Registered School offering first-rate paragliding tuition, run by BHPA Chief Flying Instructor Carlo Borsattino and the Flybubble team.

To quote the BHPA: "BHPA Registered Schools will train you at a rate of progress that is suitable for you. They are monitored for safety and the quality of the training they offer and the equipment they use, and their instructors are licensed by the Association."

Of course all of our instructors are BHPA licensed. They are also highly experienced and competent pilots, with expert knowledge when it comes to flying equipment.

High Teaching Standards

Where some paragliding schools barely teach to the basic BHPA standard, we regard this as an absolute minimum and will generally teach you to a higher standard than this - the standard to which we know you need to be a safe and competent paraglider pilot!

Very Small Training Groups, Max 3:1

We keep our training groups very small, so our students learn better and progress faster. Our maximum is 3 students per instructor, but we often teach 2:1 and even 1:1!

With some other schools you will often have 6 students per instructor (the BHPA limit); we have even seen as many as 10:1 on some occaisons! This why these schools are known as the 'sausage machines' by pilots.

We guarantee that with us you will never have more than 3 students per instructor, and often 2:1 or even 1:1. For this reason we don't charge more for weekend training. When you take this into account, the tuition we offer is extremely good value!

Highly Personalised, Expert Tuition

Paragliding is an indivudual sport, best suited to individualised tuition and advice.

We specialise in highly personalised, expert tuition and pride ourselves in making all of our training and services very much tailored to the individual.

We focus on a high quality of training, not a high quantity of students. Hence you are unlikely to see us boasting about being the largest school or training more students or pilots than everyone else!

This also means that we do not offer group discounts, nor do we accept corporate, stag or hen groups. So you will only be learning with other like-minded paragliding students!

Learn From Active Pilots & Instructors

We are extremely passionate and highly active paraglider pilots and instructors. You can easily see this for yourself by taking a look at our website and Facebook page, and subscribing to our video channel and regular paragliding newsletters.

It may come as a surprise to know that some BHPA instructors - even BHPA Chief Flying Instructors - aren't regular pilots; in fact some of them have hardly flown at all for many years! This not only means that they are not current with their flying, but also that they are out of touch with the latest flying and instructing techniques and equipment.

Unique Teaching Methods

We put a huge amount of thought and effort into our training, and are constantly trying new techniques to try and improve our teaching methods! As well as using tandem instructional flights as part of our training, we also use special equipment for ground training so our students can learn more safely in a wider range of wind conditions.

Get Expert Tandem Instruction

We are one of very few schools that use tandem instructional flights as an integral part of our training program. You can learn as much in one instructional tandem flight with us as you can in 10 days of training with another school! We have four BHPA Dual Rated Air Experience Instructors who are also all highly experienced paraglider pilots.

Learn On Modern, Regularly Serviced Equipment

Our school equipment is all very modern, completely airworthy and regularly serviced. We check and test all of our equipment ourselves very regularly; if we have any doubts at all then we test fly it ourselves to be sure! All of our wings and harnesses are regularly serviced by an independent approved professional service centre. We sell on our school equipment whilst it is still in good condition so none of it gets too old; which also means that sometimes there's a fantastic bargain to be had!

You Get What You Pay For

We charge a daily rate for all of the instruction that we give. This means that with us you get the instruction you pay for. This also means that if you complete your CP rating in less than the number of days you've paid for then you can use the remaining credit towards further training or purchasing equipment from us.

Some other schools advertise all sorts of 'special deals' to try and tempt you: made-up 'sales'; unlimited tuition to CP; package deals; free tuition with equipment purchase; etc. You have to wonder, why? If all you care about is paying the cheapest possible price, and you don't value the quality of tuition you receive, then fine. We are most probably not the right school for you! If however you value excellent service and instruction, and think that your life and limbs are worth more than a few hundred pounds, then you'll find that the tuition we give is top notch, and extremely good value!

The Best Flying Sites in SE England

We teach and fly from the very best paragliding flying sites on the fantastic South Downs hills in East Sussex, with soarable and top-landable hills facing every wind direction. If you live anywhere in the South East of England then these are likely to be the nearest best paragliding flying sites for you to learn to fly from.

All of our flying sites are very close to each other - mostly only 10-20 minutes drive, or even less - so if the wind direction changes (which is a very normal thing to occur) we can quickly move to another flying site to continue flying. Very few ares are blessed with such a fantastic choice of great flying sites, covering all wind directions, all so near to each other and easily accessed!

We have exclusive private training sites, and make use of these when required, but choose to do most of our training on the main South Downs flying sites. This is because: 1) they are the best flying sites; 2) we are able to do this because of the unique way in which we teach (very small groups, tandem instruction, etc); and 3) we strongly believe that it's absolutely essential for students to learn how to fly with other pilots on real flying sites, not just on small private training sites by themselves, as this is what they will have to do on their own once they are qualified. Much better that you learn how to soar with other pilots under expert instruction, on sites that you have been introduced to by your instructor, rather than having to do learn how to do this all by yourself on unfamiliar sites with pilots you don't know!

Be aware that some flying sites nearer to London are no where near as good as the ones we use on the South Downs, for either training or flying, and have very limited soaring potential - especially when it comes to wind direction!

Also be aware that some schools offer mainly tow training, and don't make this very clear, so you might be rather dissapointed to find out that instead of launching from a beautiful hill and soaring quietly like a bird you're actually being pulled up into the air from a flat field by a noisy winch and only doing a very short descent flight!

Lastly beware of schools claiming to have an all wind direction flying site; this sounds very convenient but the reality is that it is only OK to fly there when there is very little or no wind at all; for this reason we call this a 'no wind direction' site!

The Best Equipment For You, Available From Us

It's vitally important that you get it right when you buy your paragliding equipment. It's easy to make false economies, and really not worth the risk! Buying the wrong equipment could turn out to be a very costly mistake. Fortunately we are experts at matching pilots of all shapes, sizes and abilities to the right and best equipment for them!

We deal with all of the top paragliding brands, giving you access to a huge range of the very best paragliding equipment, and offer expert buying advice as part of the professional service we give to our students.

If you can't afford to buy new then we generally also have a wide range of second hand and ex-demonstration equipment in stock.
