* Technical data as provided to us by PHI. Final weights may change a little with production, to be confirmed.
PHI confirmed that the differences between the original BEAT and new BEAT 2 are the internal construction, stabilos and materials. PHI says that from their testing the BEAT 2 keeps the high comfort of the original BEAT, but with significantly improved performance and handling. More info to follow in due course.
Colours
Standard colours: CC1, CC2, CC3.
BEAT 2 and BEAT 2 light have the same colors.
Package
- Wing
- concertina bag
- repair material
Materials
As with the original BEAT, all of the lower lines of the BEAT 2 are sheathed, including the brake lines, only the upper lines are unsheathed.
Risers
You are free to customize and choose another riser free of charge but this will delay your order by 3-7 days. If saving every gram is your top priority, for example you may choose the "Superlight" RZ3 riser. This reduces the weight on the tech data list by around 250-285g but compromises usability and increases speed system pressure.

PHI designer Hannes Papesh explains:
"There are a lot of differences between the BEAT and the BEAT 2. Just the ground shape / outline is the same. The "X-ray view" against the light shows the new internal construction: line suspension points moved, diagonal fingers are optimized, there are different straps with markant V shaped anchor connections. The intake is different, the sail cut, the rods (now as well on bottom sail). The stabilo is completely different.
It is never easy for a designer to make a new generation of a best seller. Too often you want "too much" and destroy the key features that made the original so successful. We wanted to be sure that the BEAT 2 stays a BEAT, but we wanted to carefully make it even better. Please give it a try! You will experience the clearly better, more forgiving take off behaviour. You may immediately feel the better handling, higher agility, even more "defined" feedback. The playful ease with which you dance your way to the top of the thermalling pack is unique!"
