1:500000 CAA UK VFR air charts are small-scale aviation maps showing less detail than the 1:250000 aircharts but covering a larger area with all upper airspace detail and airport approach info. Also known as "half million" or "1/2 mill" aircharts.
CAA UK VFR Air Charts are widely acknowledged as the best VFR aviation charts anywhere in the world. The aeronautical charts for the UK produced by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) conform to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards and set the benchmark for all other VFR aeronautical charts.
All CAA UK VFR Air Charts are gloss laminated as standard for durability and chinagraph or marker pen lines can easily be cleaned off after flight!
The 1:500,000 are 'small-scale' charts which show less surface topographical detail than the 1:250,000, but have all upper airspace detail, as well as airport approach information, and cover a larger area.

CAA UK VFR Air Chart Publication Dates
The 1:250,000 series are re-issued bi-annually (every two years) on average. The 1:500,000 series are re-issued annually (every year). We will issue you with the latest edition CAA UK VFR Air Charts at the time of order.

Frequency Reference Cards
Please note that the Frequency Reference Cards will no longer be distributed with the VFR charts as printed copies. From 7 March 2013 these will now only be available as downloads from this web page, and will be updated and revised every 28 days in line with the UK AIRAC Cycle.
Chart users are advised to print the cards as required.
