Optional radio pocket
As an option the AXESS 4 has a small radio pocket, named Radio Pocket Top, which attaches to a shoulder strap. Made of neoprene with netting on the front a zip fastener makes it easy to fit and remove.
Optional foot stirrup
A luxury foot stirrup is available as an option for AXESS 4. This component is included in the certification and has a speedbar locator.
AXESS 4 – Elementary Allrounder
Elementary. Compact. Safe.
Alongside the proven Air-Foam Hybrid main protector we now have, for the first time in an AXESS, removable SAS-TEC visco-elastic soft-foam panels acquired from the world of motor sport. The packed harness volume and elementary features like Balance-Strap, Easy Connect and a natural adjustment system qualify this seatboard harness as an all-rounder, where straightforward and trouble-free handling is important.
The AXESS 4 has all the basic qualities needed for a beginner and allround harness. These range from easy adjustment, a plain and simple closure system, a safe and reliable riser clip-in procedure to the ease of sitting properly after takeoff – and the important standing-up-again before landing.
Simple and comfortable
The AXESS 4 is built to be robust. It has a seatboard, and the main protector is now joined by SAS-TEC crash protection. For a harness of this sophistication its packed volume is surprisingly small. When packing, the back section folds snugly to the seatboard, and the Air-Foam Hybrid-Protector also compresses when squeezed in the glider rucksack.
As its main protector the AXESS 4 has the removable ADVANCE Air-Foam Hybrid-Model – now in its third iteration. This protector was originally developed for the AXESS 2, and is ready for its full protecting function before any takeoff attempt. Visco-elastic SAS-TEC components are also installed at the sides and up the entire back. These defend the pilot against impacts and pointed obstructions.
Modern Air-Foam Hybrid-Protector
The Air-Foam Hybrid-Protector automatically fills with air when the rucksack is reversed into a harness, and under normal circumstances is ready to function after about 60 seconds. For maintenance it can be taken out of its own compartment under the seat shell. For maximum lifespan the protector should not be left compressed for extended periods, and never stored when wet.
SAS-TEC Side Protection
Three visco-elastic soft-foam panels – one on each side and the other up the back - protect the pelvis and spine up to the neck. These protective components are made by the SAS-TEC manufacturer in Germany, and can be removed and replaced.
Ergonomic 3D seat surface
The 3D-designed seat surface gives the AXESS 4 its great comfort. In addition, both protectors and the comfort foam are arranged to support the whole back perfectly – from top to bottom.
Familiar 2-buckle closure system
Only two buckles make up the ADVANCE harness leg and chest strap Safe-T-Function – easy to see, simple to close.
Carbon speedbar already fitted
The AXESS 4 comes with its own carbon speedbar, fitted - ready to go. The speed lines run through ball bearing pulleys in the harness; in place at delivery.
High-Tech carbon seatboard
A reengineered, even lighter composite carbon sandwich seatboard (from 284 grams) now has rounded and extremely smooth edges, as well as a state-of-the-art, even stronger fibre alignment pattern.
Drink system provision
The AXESS 4 has provision for a drinks system, with a pocket in the back and drinks tube guide.
Ball bearing Ronstan speed system pulleys
The Ronstan speed pulleys have high quality ball bearings. These make a significant reduction in speed line friction forces, giving you an easy-to-push speedbar.

Why can I take out all the protectors?
If the protectors get damaged, e.g. after a crash, the Air-Foam Hybrid-Protector can easily be changed.After a landing in water, for example during SIV, the harness and protector dry more quickly and thoroughly when separated than assembled.Depending on harness size, up to 300 gm weight can be saved if the visco-elastic SAS-TEC soft-foam back protector is removed. Be aware that without the SAS-TEC back element there is no back penetration protection for the AXESS 4 and there can be a small degradation in comfort (back support).
Can I fly the AXESS 4 with a different speedbar from its original carbon version?
Yes. When fitting it just make sure the speed lines are routed in the same way as for our premounted carbon speedbar.
Do I have to check anything with the Air-Foam Hybrid-Protector?
No. The Air-Foam Hybrid-Protector automatically develops its full protection within 60 seconds of the harness being released from the paraglider rucksack. For maximum protector life the harness should always be stored completely dry.
Can I fly the AXESS 4 with a foot rest?
Absolutely! There’s a matching foot rest as an AXESS 4 optional extra. This is part of the certification and will be delivered with the “Soft” speed loop.
