OMEGA ULS: Challange yourself
AMBITIOUS FLYING - The winning DNA
The new OMEGA ULS is your ideal companion for demanding adventures and challenging competitions, matching the high standards of the two X-Alps 2021 winners. Together we have developed a new high performer, building on the strengths of its predecessors to deliver even greater flight performance and outstanding results, with a better glide ratio over its whole speed range.
PRECISE AND EASY - Easy handling brings success
We have designed the OMEGA ULS so that you can concentrate fully on those important tactical decisions in flight. Lower control loads combined with noticeably agreeable circling ability contribute to the effortless handling which helps you to fly efficiently. Intensive testing has resulted in a high performer that eats up the kilometres while delivering a pleasantly relaxed feeling in flight.
PREMIUM QUALITY - Ultra-light high-tech material
When preparing for demanding adventures you want to minimise weight and a bulky pack wherever possible. This is exactly what we demand of the OMEGA ULS. The ultra-light inner structure with its high-quality high-tech fabrics make this glider 250 g lighter than its predecessor. An intelligent material mix of high-end Nitinol Wires and ultra-light cloth contribute to the minimal weight and packed volume.
Insights
“OUR OMEGAS HAVE BEEN THE WINNERS' FIRST CHOICE FOR YEARS. FOR THIS YEAR'S RACE WE HAVE MANAGED TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS WITH THE OMEGA ULS.”
- CHRISTIAN PROSCHEK, Head of Development at ADVANCE
Features
HIGH-END NITINOL WIRES
These ultra-light components are made from a super-elastic nickel-titanium alloy, and provide balanced, chordwise mass distribution from the leading edge across the wing upper surface. These rods significantly reduce both packed volume and overall weight, and resist deformation even under heavy loading.
ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURE
An intricate internal structure lies at the heart of the OMEGA ULS, and is crucial to its ultra lightweight construction using our Sliced Diagonals technology. After many X-Alps competitions, we have refined our profile fabric reduction technology as far as possible, including the complex diagonal rib structure.
STATE-OF-THE-ART EDELRID PRO DRY LINES
OMEGA ULS lines are extremely stable in length and have an above-average ultimate strength, even after long use. The colour-differentiated Pro Dry lines demonstrate 60% higher water repellency. The latest generation of unsheathed lines builds on the advantages of 8000 Aramid lines.
INTELLIGENT, ULTRA-LIGHT MATERIAL MIX
The wing top surface is made of tried and tested Porcher Skytex 27 cloth, and the less vulnerable under surface features extremely compact Dominico DOKDO 10 fabric. This combination of high quality materials makes the OMEGA ULS noticeably easier (fast) to pack, and lighter on the shoulders to carry: performance with lightness.
Opinions
“WHAT I ENJOY MOST IS THE LIGHT HANDLING COMPARED TO THE PREDECESSORS. THIS IS THE BEST THING FOR CRANKING UP IN THE TIGHTEST THERMALS DURING THE X-ALPS 2023.”
-PATRICK VON KÄNEL, Test pilot and 2nd place at X-Alps 2021
Flybubble review
"I have flown the Omega ULS using four different harnesses, each with its unique character and weight, including the Advanced Weightless, the Gin Genie XLite, the Supair Light 4 and the Niviuk Arrow. This diverse array aimed not only to introduce myself with the harnesses but also to observe any variations in the glider's behaviour under different setups. Surprisingly, the Omega ULS displayed tolerance for diverse weight ranges, a valuable trait for pilots encountering varying conditions, be it strong or light thermals.
Ease of ground handling and launch is a noteworthy feature of the Omega ULS. Although it is classified as an EN-D glider, it offers an EN-C wing launch experience, making it easy for pilots who are used to this category. The glider inherits the well-sorted inflation and launch characteristics from its predecessor, the Omega XAlps 3. Despite the inherent demands of an end-glider, the Omega ULS maintains a high level of ground handling ease, allowing pilots to engage in kiting and manoeuvring confidently.
In flight, it exudes a robust and stable feeling, slicing through the air with commendable efficiency. While exhibiting some movement, it surprisingly offers more solidity and less sway than standard-weight EN-C two-liners. Upon launch, two distinct observations stand out: the glider's impressive solidity and a somewhat less positive note on the relatively long brake travel.
The Omega ULS excels on the speed bar, delivering impressive performance with a solid feel, even at full bar. Descent techniques, including big ears, are executed smoothly, showcasing the glider's versatility. Its forgiving stall point adds to its safety profile. Comparisons with the Niviuk Klimber 3P highlight subtle differences in agility and handling, with the Omega ULS offering more forgiving characteristics. In terms of build quality, the Omega ULS stands out for its top-notch craftsmanship.
Choosing between the Omega ULS and Klimber 3P depends on personal preferences, with considerations for brake length, agility, and pilot demands. The Omega ULS's versatility in accommodating different weight ranges adds to its appeal.
In conclusion, the Omega ULS is a compelling option for pilots seeking an ultra-light, high-performance paraglider. Its forgiving stall point, stable flight characteristics, and adaptability to diverse weight ranges."

“Launching the light ULS is super easy even in no wind and without any delay. It rises smoothly and evenly, with no hard point no snaking around, just as easy as it gets with its 6.8 aspect ratio. In the air, the brake length has a 15 cm gap after the pulleys and they need around 20 to 30 cm to steer the glider in all conditions. They have a moderate length, but …as agile as you could dream for a 6.8 AR glider! I could place the Omega ULS in rough air whenever I wanted, wherever I wanted ! and that is a blessing to those gliders. Inside a thermal core, the ULS has the ability to narrow the turning radius, as some low aspect high B’s! The Omega ULS enters gently moderate thermal stays in the core easily without any useless and excessive movements. A really nice glider to thermal with. In terms of pilot demands, I can say the Omega ULS needs slightly more active control than the EN-C’s like Artik R, Trango X, Photon..etc, and of course less workout than the Xc Racer 2. So it seems to be in that middle for accessibility. Could be similar to fly than the Light Mantra 7 but with a more coherent structure.
Conclusion: The Omega ULS, is a light, agile, well-balanced 6.8 aspect ratio EN-D with a high-performance package. I can only imagine that after test-flying it, many pilots aiming for that class will eventually get hooked and will fly the Omega ULS for years to come. "
