Edelrid FORAS carabiner

Equipment is becoming lighter, webbing straps narrower. So that these don't slip out of position, carabiners have also to become slimmer. But this has the disadvantage that they don't open wide enough for easy clipping in of paraglider risers. The FORAS changes this, it opens to the side!

This 51 gram light aluminium carabiner accepts webbing up to 25 mm wide. Thanks mainly to its H profile design the FORAS' breaking strain is 23 kN.

An automatic Twist-Lock closure gate guarantees best possible handling. Rounded edges make sure the FORAS looks after your riser fabric and a nose shape prevents carabiner cross loading.

A batch number with manufacture date provides a simple check on lifespan. Every single example is machine-tested before it leaves the EDELRID plant.

These innovative harness carabiners were developed by German supplier EDELRID at the initiative of, and in association with ADVANCE. The goal was to create a light, wide-opening paraglider carabiner specially for today’s narrow webbing straps, which cannot slip or slide round in its harness support loops. Future ADVANCE products with narrow webbing straps will be supplied with FORAS carabiners. The FORAS is also compatible with ADVANCE tandem spreaders.
