Gin Footstrap (Foot Stirrup)

The Gin Footstrap is made from tubular webbing with a stiff bar to rest your feet on. It comes in one size, and is attached and adjusted using the included plastic ladder buckles. The side webbing straps have elasticated sections which shorten the straps when unloaded. This helps prevent the straps and bar from tangling with your feet when ground handling. In the event of a reserve deployment, this also lessens the chance of the reserve parachute deploying through the foot stirrup (but it does not eliminate this) *.

* Gin Gliders do not recommend retrofitting the Gin Footstrap to upright harnesses with underseat reserve containers which don't have any facility to fit a foot stirrup due to the possibility of the Footstrap getting entangled with the reserve parachute in the event of reserve deployment. Check your harness user manual to ensure suitability. If the harness manual doesn't specifically state that the harness is designed for fitting a foot stirrup then you can assume it isn't. If you wish to double-check this, the best is for you to contact the harness manufacturer directly to ask them for clarification.
