The DOUBLESKIN 2 is aimed at pilots who appreciate a very safe and uncomplicated lightweight glider with smooth handling and a small pack size. It offers a wide range of options: The classic application is hike & fly in all its facets. Depending on the wing loading and choice of size, the DOUBLESKIN 2 can also be used for relaxed thermalling. Thanks to its suitability for training, the DOUBLESKIN 2 offers a great deal of confidence and flying fun from the very first flight. In size 16, with a high wing loading, the DOUBLESKIN 2 can even be flown as an agile ultra-light miniwing – it is certified as EN B in the extended weight range of 80 to 95 kg.

The DOUBLESKIN 2 (EN/LTF A) can be many things – depending on its size, it can be a dynamic miniwing, a relaxed hike & fly wing, it can always be with you when travelling, and also a reliable thermal buddy. One thing is always true: it is ultra-light and super safe.
More sizes to suit every taste.
With four sizes, the DOUBLESKIN 2 covers a total weight range of 55 to 120 kg and is EN A certified. The glider has a compact pack size and the smallest size (16) weighs just 2.41 kg. There is a suitable size for every requirement you have from your mountain paraglider. Another advantage of the DOUBLESKIN 2 is, with appropriate wing loading, it is suitable for training. This means you can enjoy the benefits of a safe, light wing from the very first flight. The different applications are shown in the diagram below.
Reliable companion
Thanks to a new airfoil and a A-lines that has been set further back, the DOUBLESKIN 2 is extremely collapse resistant. Glide performance and stability have been increased with an aspect ratio of 4.9 and it features a more complex structure: in comparison to its predecessor, diagonal ribs and more vector tapes are used. The compact wing remains stable even in accelerated flight and glides efficiently through unstable air. The direct handling enables effortless turning in tight thermals. In turbulent conditions, the high damping keeps everything smooth and prevents unwanted roll movements.
Flexible and relaxed at take-off
The clear and twist-resistant 7 mm wide Kevlar risers of the DOUBLESKIN 2 make launch preparation easier – from the very first flights to launches in challenging alpine terrain. The lines are short and their sheaths are colour-coded, which simplifies line sorting and increases durability. The launch behaviour of the DOUBLESKIN 2 is particularly easy in a wide range of conditions and with different techniques. The pilot does not have to adapt to the wing, the wing adapts to the pilot.
Ultra-lightweight - The ultimate in lightness
Designed for hike & fly, climb & fly and vol biv, ultra-lightweight products are built to be as light and compact as possible. To achieve this, we use the lightest materials and technologies available - but never at the expense of safety! For the longest possible enjoyment of the product, we recommend particularly careful handling of the equipment.
Several aspects of the DOUBLESKIN 2 have been optimised in this respect, for example, more cells and a more complex internal structure ensure better performance, stability and more precise handling. The DOUBLESKIN 2 uses maillons (instead of soft links) for the riser. This makes handling easier when changing lines and trimming. Compared to its predecessor, the DOUBLESKIN 2 weighs around 250 g more due to these optimisations.

Technology
The ultimate in lightness.
Consistent at top speed. Using thin webbing at the leading edge, the upper and lower surfaces are connected in the middle of each cell. This promotes leading edge solidity in flight, which is particularly beneficial to performance when flying at speed.
Less knots, less wind resistance. This wing has two line galleries: main lines and gallery lines, but there is no middle gallery. This means only very few line elements and as a result, they are very simple to sort.
Comfort on the ground. All NOVA paragliders are made to be easy to use. For packing you can use a concertina bag, but it is not essential. Nova's extensive experience with rods has taught us that the packing method has little influence on the durability of the wing. Bent rods quickly spring back into their original shaped.
Shaped in top form. In 3D-shaping, a seam on the upper surface extends over the entire span and reduces the amount of folds caused by the curvature over two axes. Two axes, because the sail cloth has to align to the profile form and the ballooning also determines a radius which the cloth also has to follow.
More compact. The aspect ratio of a glider is not the only factor in passive safety, but still a very important one. A high aspect ratio favours cravats after asymmetric collapses, generally shortens brake travel and normally makes wings more difficult to fly. Nova's analytical tools permit us to build performance wings even with a low or moderate aspect ratio.

FAQ
How do I choose the correct wing loading?
You can easily see the different areas of application of the DOUBLESKIN 2 in the diagram based on your all-up weight and the corresponding wing size. You can also calculate the wing loading. The formula is: wing loading = all-up weight ÷ projected area. The higher the wing loading, the faster the wing flies. Above all, the agility and dynamics increase, even after collapses.
For example: 100 kg all-up weight with a projected area of 20 m² results in a wing loading of 5 kg/m² (100 ÷ 20 = 5).
The DOUBLESKIN 2 has excellent self-damping up to approximately 5 kg/m² wing loading, making it very easy to fly. It thermals efficiently in weak conditions, up to roughly 4.7 kg/m². For dynamic flying fun, we recommend a wing loading of about 4.5 kg/m² or more.
What is the difference to the AONIC?
The AONIC is at the top end of the EN A class (high-end EN A). It offers maximum performance within the EN A classification and is optimised for safe XC flying. There are two versions of the AONIC: the standard version AONIC , and the AONIC Light , both of which are more robust than the DOUBLESKIN 2.
How do I use the holding pins?
The pins can be attached to the specially provided tabs of the wing using the loops provided (the exact instructions can be found in the manual of the glider.) If used correctly, the pins are pulled out of the ground or the snow when taking off and they fly into the valley attached to their loops. If one still get lost, it is no drama - Nova's holding pins are made of wood and therefore biodegradable. It is very important to remove the pins when packing to avoid any damage to the glider.
What is the difference to the PRION?
The PRION (EN/LTF A) is an entry-level wing that is optimised for training. Due to its mix of materials, the PRION is more robust and more forgiving on rough terrain than the DOUBLESKIN 2, which was developed with a focus on weight reduction for hike & fly enthusiasts. Both wings are particularly safe and easy to handle, as proved by their EN A certification.
What is the difference to its predecessor DOUBLESKIN (1)?
Compared to its predecessor, the DOUBLESKIN 2 is approved for training and is EN A certified in all its sizes. There are four sizes for an even more customised range of use. More cells and a higher aspect ratio ensure better performance and the more complex interior and new profile increase stability. Handling of the risers has been simplified thanks to the use of maillons instead of soft links. Because of these optimisations, the DOUBLESKIN 2 weighs approx. 250 g more than its predecessor.
What does "distance pilot – canopy" mean?
This value indicates the distance from the carabiner main attachment point vertically upwards to the lower sail. In other words, it describes how far the pilot is from the glider. With hike & fly gliders, this distance is particularly relevant for launching: the closer you stand to the glider with the lines stretched out, the less space is required for the inflation. In flight, a small distance provides "direct contact" with the glider. A slightly larger distance indirectly increases the glide performance and provides a more "all-round" flying feeling, which is especially desirable for thermalling and XC gliders.
The ideal distance to the canopy must therefore always be evaluated in relation to the intended use.
