Use, Compatibility and fitting
Ronstan Orbit Block Auto Ratchet Pulley 40mm RF46101
Mostly used on more performance-oriented harnesses, especially high-end XC and competition harnesses. Compatible with any paragliding harness with sufficient space to accommodate it. Fitting may need to be done by a professional paraglider harness service centre.
Ronstan Orbit Block Auto Ratchet Pulley 40mm RF46101
Top-of-the-range 40mm diameter Ronstan Orbit Block RF46101 ratchet pulley with ball bearings and automatic locking / unlocking mechanism when tensioned / untensioned. Dyneema® Link head system for easy connection. With this automatic ratchet pulley, the ratchet mechanism engages when load is applied to it, reducing the effort required to hold it, then disengages when the load is released, allowing the line to run back out smoothly and freely.
When the paraglider speed system is applied, the ratchet mechanism engages, automatically locking the pulley wheel in place. This decreases the effort required for the pilot to hold the speed system in place with their legs, causing less fatigue, allowing the pilot to hold the speed system on longer. When the paraglider speed system is released, the ratchet mechanism disengages, automatically unlocking the pulley wheel. This lets the paragliding speed system line run out smoothly and freely - great for rapid easing of the paraglider speed system.
NB: Ratchet pulleys are also known as "winch pulleys".
Features
- Up to 14:1 holding power - highest available!
- Smooth easing of sheets

Awesome ratchet block holding power
Quite simply, Ronstan Ratchet Orbit blocks™ have the highest holding power available. The sophisticated NC-machined sheave features Generation 2 of our patented sheave cross-hole geometry. The Series 40 delivers up to 14:1 holding power, almost double that of our nearest competitor.
The unique sheave design has 8 gripping faces which directly resist loaded line movement. Traditional designs have an angled resistance to line movement. Our Generation 2 design has straight resistance faces which both distribute the load and minimise rope wear. These faces are offset from the radial line, to draw the rope down into the gripping area when under load.
Materials
- Sheave: Anodised Aluminium
