SKYWK-CHILI3
The CHILI3, classified as a high-end free rider, impresses with outstanding XC performance.

The comfort-kilometre hound

The paraglider built especially for big tasks.

The CHILI3, classified as a high-end free rider, impresses with outstanding XC performance for its class. Good glide behaviour, high top speed, high stability yet high pilot safety at the same time. New technology like mini-ribs, C-wires as well as a new cell concept that saves 25% in meters of line provide more performance.

High value was placed on achieving the clean and simple handling, especially pleasing to pilots. The reduced brake pressure compared to the CHILI2 provides for a high comfort factor, even during long flights. Perfect for the ambitious XC pilot who does not want to sacrifice the safety of the EN B class.

Flying

Exceptionally high value was placed on achieving the clean, simple and direct handling of the CHILI3 during development and the results are very satisfying. The reduced steering pressure in comparison with the CHILI2 makes it possible to maintain the good feeling even during very long flights. It is not just the excellent performance and high flight stability that makes the CHILI3 shine, but the error-forgiving flight behaviour as well.

Thus, the CHILI3 is the perfect companion for ambitious xc pilots who do not want to do without the safety that an EN-B wing offers, and for thermal pilots without a lot of experience.

Performance

The CHILI3 impresses with extraordinary XC characteristics.

Very good glide performance and high endspeed go hand in hand with high stability and a safe feeling for pilots. For those who want to access the full potential of the CHILI3, and those who have the experience, we recommend the use of an aerodynamic harness. Only then can the extraordinary glide of the CHILI3 be fully utilized.

The climb performance of the CHILI3 is outstanding and can be precisely controlled.

Safety

The reactions of the CHILI3 are very manageable. Canopy feedback is good and direct.

Our tried and true JET FLAPS are partly responsible, along with the relatively low aspect ratio. The position of the A-level was not moved back and the CHILI3 was certified without folding lines, like all of the skywalk gliders!

For pilots with very low flight hours or lower performance demands, we recommend the TEQUILA, a low-level B wing.

Design

Construction

The CHILI3 is a completely new design, largely based upon the technology of the CAYENNE4.

Rigid Foils

Rigid Foils in the leading edge provide for a light, form-stable profile contour, C-WIRES dampen the trailing edge of the wing and allow the CHILI3 to convert every updraft. All reinforcements are made from indestructible plastic and are bend-resistant, thus making special packing methods unnecessary.

Mini Ribs

MINI RIBS on the trailing edge improve brake behaviour and ensure improved form drag. The optimised brake gathering system decreases steering pressure. The double 3D-shaping behind the leading edge on the top sail creates fewer folds and contributes to the advantageous form drag.

Lines and Sail

An added performance plus is the new cell concept, (real 3-liner with 2 main lines per side), a 25% savings in line meters. The CHILI3 is equipped with hybrid lines, consisting of covered Dyneema main lines and uncovered Technora middle- and top lines. The CHILI3 M has a mere 239 m of lines including the brake lines!

Materials

With regard to cloths, we selected a mix of premium Porcher and Dominico. These materials provide low weight with simultaneously very good durability.

Features

Jet Flaps

By narrowing the cross section of the slit (channel), Jet Flaps create a Venturi effect that accelerates the airflow. The air is redirected from the lower sail (pressure area) to the upper sail (suction area) where it exits. Airflow separation is delayed, the stall occurs later, minimum speed is reduced, and the pilot has more angle of attack reserve. This is a considerable benefit during critical phases like launch, landing and tight thermals. More information

Hybrid Line Geometry

The perfect mix of Aramid and Dyneema lines maximizes durability and minimizes trim changes over the lifecycle of your glider. This optimal use of line materials lowers air resistance and minimizes weight.

3 Line Levels

True 3-line technology with greatly reduced drag for more performance and easier line sorting. Three line levels from the risers to the wing without line junctions.

Rigid Foil

The leading edge is reinforced with flexible nylon battens. The result is a substantial weight savings that positively affects the handling in extreme conditions. The Rigid Foil technology gives that the leading edge maintains an optimal shape to ensure even airflow over the wing and a constant ram air pressure. The wing glides better, especially in accelerated flight. During launch, the battens hold leading edge open, making inflation a snap.

Especially robust materials

Use of special, long-life materials that maintain their characteristics even in hard use.

Race Lines

For performance-oriented gliders, skywalk uses mostly unsheathed Aramid lines with high strength values that are relatively kink and stretch resistant. The result is reduced drag for more performance and better gliding.

Double Splice Technology

To ensure a perfect connection between the lines at the ends where loops and crossovers are placed, we splice in addtional short pieces of line. skywalk employs this complex process to strenghten the connection.

Narrow Risers

Use of narrow materials for risers to reduce drag; this means that the handling is slightly more sophisticated.

Mini Ribs

Doubling of the cell in the region of the trailing edge: increased shape stability, less resistance, more performance.

3D-Shaping

Fitting of an additional band: precisely shaped wing, less resistance, more performance.

For lightweights

Glider sizes for light pilots from about 40 kg body weight: small area, lower weight with the same safety and performance

C-wires

Nylon reinforcement over the C suspension point in the upper sail instead of lines: less resistance, more performance.

2 main lines

2A, 2B, 2C, lines per side and line level: fewer lines, less resistance, easier line sorting, more performance.

2 + 2 Guarantee

For all gliders purchased after July 1, 2007, Skywalk offers its customers the skywalk 2 + 2 Guarantee - an additional warranty that goes beyond the minimum required by law.
