LM7: Performance/Competition | EN D
- Light, tight, compact 3-liner
- Moderate 6.5 AR
- 650 grams lighter than the M7
The LM7 is a lightweight XC machine incorporating the latest high-performance features from Ozone's competition range. It is a light, tight, and compact 3-line package. The profile, planform, and arc are all evolved from the Zeno, with a more moderate 6.5 AR. The LM7 offers a level of agility, comfort and safety closer to the Delta series, with near-Zeno glide performance. Most importantly, it is an incredibly fun wing to fly!
At 650 grams lighter than the M7, it is nicer to carry, packs smaller, and benefits from a lighter sail. The significant weight reduction not only improves the inflation characteristics but also livens up the feedback and improves the agility and behaviour of the wing in active air.
The LM7 is a significant step up from its predecessor in terms of performance, especially in accelerated flight, but with better collapse recovery characteristics, reduced pilot workload, and more cohesion in turbulent air. It is the ideal wing for experienced pilots stepping up to the D class who want the performance and pleasure of a modern 2-liner, but with more comfort, security, and confidence.
Technology
The Zeno-inspired profile, with A-line attachments set relatively far back from the leading edge, creates a strong & collapse-resistant nose. You can push hard through turbulence and gain lift in each gust.
The Internal structure is optimised for weight and cohesion. The wing absorbs turbulence without chord or spanwise deformation, meaning that the handling can be exploited at all times, even in the strongest, roughest thermals. The cohesion of the sail, coupled with this solidity, is confidence-inspiring. It reduces the demands on the pilot allowing you to use the full XC potential of the day.
A new riser control system allows full control in accelerated flight. Acting on both the B and C risers, this innovative system offers direct, efficient angle of attack control without deforming the profile. The intuitive feel and feedback from the risers allow the pilot to maintain the solidity of the wing while accelerated in turbulent air.
The class
The LM7 is certified EN D and aimed at EN D level pilots, even if the certification grade is mainly due to the use of collapse lines. The level of comfort and security is closer to the class below! Collapse lines were used because Ozone was unwilling to weaken the structure of the wing just to achieve a lower EN grade. True Performance in real conditions remains their priority. Extensive collapse testing has shown excellent recovery behaviour – better than the LM6, with less tendency to cravat.
The pilot
The LM7 is a light version of the M7. It is for advanced pilots who are progressing to the highest levels of XC flying and prefer a lightweight wing. It is ideal for competent pilots stepping up from a lower grade, or those wishing for easier, more benign behaviour than a 2-liner without sacrificing performance. It’s recommended for experienced pilots who fly at least 100 hrs per year, with recent SIV training.
The LM7 (like the M7) is undoubtedly the best 3-line wing Ozone have ever produced. After an extended period of testing in very strong conditions, Ozone is pleased with the result. It is a powerful wing with True Performance at its heart; an accessible feel, agile handling, and high levels of security.

Fabric colours and UV resistance
Please be aware that the colour you see on your screen may not accurately represent the actual fabric colour. Secondly, different cloths specifications with the same colour name may vary slightly, please see here for an example. Given the wide variance in monitor calibration and the fabric appearance in different light and colour combinations, it is impossible to perfectly represent fabric colour on the screen. If you have any doubts about the colours, look at photos of various wings on the Flybubble website to see them in different light and colour combinations or contact your local dealer to see the fabric in person.
All of the fabric that Ozone use undergoes extensive testing in prototype colour phase to ensure colourfastness, mechanical stability, porosity, and general longevity before Ozone put it into production. Once the fabric is in production, every meter of it is rigorously inspected upon arrival in the Ozone factory, and fabric which does not pass their stringent quality control standards is returned to the manufacturer. Ozone is frequently asked, "Which colours last the longest, or have the best UV resistance?" All of the colours that Ozone stock score between 4 and 5 on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest possible rating for longevity.
Flybubble review
The LM7 is Ozone’s lightweight version of the Mantra M7.
Our review of the Mantra M7 down below.
"The Mantra M7 offers lower pilot demands than the M6, so it fits well in Ozone's range, midway between the Delta 3 and the Zeno. The M7 inflates fairly readily, considering the size of the cell openings, which are narrow. It's pretty typical for this level of wing. So getting the wing open and building a wall in moderate to strong winds is as expected. On inflation, it requires a pretty high level of control on giving correct and symmetric input. I'd say the ground handling is about right for the level of wing it's meant to be, low D. It's less demanding to ground handle than most 2-liners, but more demanding than most 3-liners I've tested in recent years.
I mean the feeling you get from the wing in turns, through the breaks and rises as a result of your inputs, the energy it transmits back to you, and also how much it makes you smile. The joy factor. I find the brake pressure on the M7 moderate, if anything, slightly on the firmer side, in relative terms. The feeling in terms of the handling and energy is moderate, slightly dampened. The glider responds steadily to break inputs. It's neither particularly agile nor slow. I tested the wing at different loadings for comparison, including near the top of the weight range. If I flew the M7, then I would it fly near or at the top of its weight range, because I prefer a wing that's more dynamic and agile rather than more docile and placid. The feedback from the M7 is rather dampened for a D wing. It's very pitch stable, which leads to a slightly vague feeling. Functional rather than pleasurable. The M7 is calmer than the M6. It climbs well, good for the class. However, despite flying near the top of the weight range, I found the wing was hanging back on entering thermals. I felt the M7 climbs pretty well in light to moderate thermals, but it felt like it was more suited to stronger, punchier climbs than the weaker stuff. Unusually for a D wing, I was always feeling like, "Come on, give me a bit more speed, more energy, more feedback."
So who's this for? Uh, I see the M7 as being mainly a stepping stone wing for progressing competition pilots who are frustrated at being outgunned on their old EN-C wing by high end 2-liners, but they don't want to take the jump up to a wing like a Zeno or a Gin leopard. Overall, I'd say it has low D pilot demands in terms of ground handling, general flying, and SIV. Turns seem pretty average for the aspect ratio, if anything the wing lacks a bit of speed and energy for the class. If you're not obsessed wit performance, and you're looking for a wing that is coordinated, comfortable and reassuring, solid on full bar, then the M7 might suit you."

Other reviews
"This would be my go-to wing if I lived in the mountains. The M7 bears similar hallmarks to the King: it creates a fork in the road for pilots wanting to progress from Cs. Despite Cedar’s experience, which I respect, I’m still convinced that if you want to race, and race hard, you need to buy a two-liner and go and SIV it until you’re totally comfortable with it, because two-liners are simply the best machines to compete on. Anything else is a compromise – but I accept the M7 is a very, very good one.
Competitions aside, if you’re an XC head looking for the best wing to keep you smiling from sunrise to sunset on an epic 10-hour Brazilian chase for your personal best or a huge Alpine triangle, the M7 is a great choice. With some adjustment to your flying style, it’ll please the retiring competition pilot and put a huge grin on C pilots’ faces too."
