Mounting options
Naviter supplies the Oudie N with with sticky back hook-and-loop fastener strips, for mounting the Oudie N to a suitable flight deck / cockpit, harness mount or leg strap (with a large enough surface area).
For most paraglider and paramotor pilots, the best way to mount the Oudie N is on a suitable flight deck / cockpit.
If you prefer to fly with a front mounted reserve container, some of these have a suitable integrated flight deck area on top (not the ultralight minimalist ones).
If you prefer to use a harness mount, pick one one with integrated bungee cord for additional angle adjustment and mounting stability.
If you prefer to use a leg strap, pick a more sturdy one with a large enough surface area.
It is here. The Oudie N finally got its better half. The Oudie N with Fanet+ module and an integrated antenna is tested and ready for takeoff.
Visibility to others (electronic conspicuity) is a big deal in paragliding - a pilot wants to be seen by other aircraft and vice versa. Fanet+ module increases your safety and that of others with:
- Being able to see other pilots with Fanet-capable devices
- Being visible to glider pilots and general aviation with the Flarm beacon
- Hybrid online tracking
Could this be your new co-pilot? Or at least make your current better half feel more relaxed knowing you're safe and sound.

Fully integrated antenna
The antenna is fully integrated into the housing of the Oudie N FANET+. There are no sharp or protruding elements that could get tangled in the lines during launch.
In addition, the antenna is perfectly tuned to the Oudie N FANET+ housing. Its performance is better than that of the Oudie 5 and other competing products.
Electronic conspicuity with Fanet+ version
Oudie N Fanet+ includes a module that introduces electronic conspicuity to the paragliding market. Devices with Flarm become visible (conspicuous) to other aircraft equipped with Flarm. Gliders, Cessnas and other general aviation – including helicopters and drones – equipped with Flarm will be able to see and avoid your flight path with this technology. What are FANET, FLARM & FANET+?
- FANET (Flying Ad-hoc NETwork) is a low cost open source system for transmitting position and sharing information between FANET users. It helps you to know where others are, and others know where you are, including your buddies. It is not a collision avoidance system per se, as that is a FLARM patent.
- FLARM is a proprietary system for air traffic awareness, collision avoidance, identification and tracking for General Aviation (GA) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). It helps prevent aircraft equipped with FLARM from colliding with each other.
- FANET+ is a combination of a FANET transceiver and a FLARM transmitter i.e. FANET (TxRx) + FLARM (Tx) a.k.a. a "FLARM Beacon". It helps prevent things hitting you, but not you hitting things. It helps you to know where others are, and others know where you are, including your buddies, and helps prevent aircraft equipped with FLARM from colliding with you.

Other reviews
"As a user this means there is now an extra Fanet+ menu and the Fanet+ layer in the map is automatically visible. There are map layers available for Fanet+, OGN and Flarm traffic; the latter is for if you have a Flarm receiver connected. The Fanet+ menu allows you to change your Fanet name, displayed on other users’ devices, and choose whether you want your position relayed to the OGN tracking server. You can also download and install updates to the Fanet+ module’s firmware here, as well as choose to disable Flarm and Fanet+, if you have multiple Fanet or Flarm-enabled devices on board. The page also gives access to a list of Fanet targets around you so you can change their nicknames and add them to your favourites list. The same data is show when you click on a Fanet entry on the map and you can choose to ‘Go To’ them. The Fanet targets are shown with their names, heights and vario information. Currently there is no filtering of targets so you can only show all the Fanet users around you or none. You can’t, for example, just choose to show your buddies on the map. Naviter said though that this is on their development list.
Conclusion: So, do you need an Oudie N with Fanet+? If you already have an Oudie N is it worth upgrading? Naviter do offer an upgrade path but it’s not that cheap. Many owners will already have bought an additional unit such as XCTracer to connect for Flarm / Fanet data: if you have done this there is no need to upgrade as you already have all the functionality and you have a backup logger. If, however, you have yet to buy an Oudie it is the obvious choice, as you will get all the functionality that we praised from the original plus Fanet / Flarm in a single sleek unit."
