Connection
These reserve bridles have stitched loops at each end; shorter loops at one end, longer loops at the other. These loops are for connecting to the harness attachment points at one end and the reserve strop at the other. This is usually done using suitable Maillon Rapide maillons e.g. 7mm delta (triangular) or 6mm standard (oval). Which size and shape of maillon you use depends on the width of the material you are connecting to. Since these bridle have narrow endings (< 15mm), at least one end of the maillons used can be narrow.
The loops each have heat resistant protective covers, to help protect against friction heat burns. Although theoretically - all being well - this could mean it's possible to safely use a cow hitch knot (aka lark's head knot) to connect bridles i.e. without using maillons or soft links, we generally don't recommend this because it may be less strong / failsafe, especially if not done right or the materials are incompatible.
