It has come to our attention that a small number of pilots have experienced difficulty in deploying their reserve parachutes during test deployments using Supair AltiX and Evo XC harnesses (later designs). The white nylon braided cord attached to the deployment pins has become entangled between the hook and loop fastener flaps over time making the force required to release the pins excessive.
We recommend all owners of these harnesses to check their system and ensure that this cord does not run between the hook and loop fastener flaps as shown in the picture. Alternative solutions of masking the male hook and loop fastener side or sleeving the cord have also been used effectively.
We advise all pilots to check their pins and ensure that the braided cord is not trapped by the hook and loop fastener at least 2 or 3 times per season.
