The area & our course
Flying at the superb sites as used by the Paragliding World Cup, Tapalpa and San Marcos, in the Jalisco province of Mexico, we will be honing paraglider pilot's thermalling and XC flying skills to a Tee, whilst soaring high over an amazingly rich variety of Mexican landscapes, including hills, ridges, mountains, plateaus and flatlands.
We will show you how to make use of the superb and varied thermal flying conditions, and incredible plateau-convergence effects which occur here, to fly some fantastic out-and-returns, triangles and open distance cross country paragliding flights.
The flying
Although generally not too turbulent, the flying conditions can sometimes be quite strong here, and the thermals occasionally a little tricky to work, so this course is aimed at slightly more experienced paraglider pilots (i.e. not very low airtime, just new out of school) who know how to fly 'actively' and don??
Previous trips
Carlo has travelled around this area to paraglide extensively, for the first time in 1999, including taking part in two major international 'Paragliding World Cup' competitions. For one of these PWC events, he was 'Team Mentor' for the British Paragliding Team, in charge of training up-and-coming British paragliding competition pilots.
Carlo speaks pretty good Spanish and knows the local paraglider pilots and the area very well, which makes things much easier for making the most of of the conditions at all times, and ensuring that our pilots get to see and experience the best that Mexico has to offer!
Price, what's included
Cost: 2 weeks - ??900 per person,
Deposit required: ??400 (to secure place)
This includes:
- Airport collection and return on specified day and time (exact details to be confirmed).
- Good hotel accommodation, with breakfast & air conditioning
- Transport to take off from our hotel and retrieve along the days chosen XC route, with driver
- Daily brief on take off regarding weather conditions and flying for the day
- Radio guidance in-flight
- Theory sessions (optional) and your questions answered
Some things which are not included...
- Flights which are approximately ??550 plus taxes, we usually find the best price for the flights for each trip and then reserve flights for the individual to pay for directly.
We prefer if everyone is on the same flight, but we understand this is not always possible as pilots come from all over the World. All we ask is that everyone is at the arrival airport at the same time, or earlier than the main group arrival time for the airport transfer.
- Lunches and dinner, although we will recommend and take you to some excellent places!
