Big Flights With Mentor 2 (25.04.2011)

In 2008 Marcel Dettling managed to do a record flight with his Mentor 1. He launched in Fanas (Switzerland) and flew a 223km FAI triangle. This was the biggest FAI triangle with a 1-2 glider at this time.

Last week, on April 19th, not less than three Mentor 2 pilots were able to fly bigger FAI triangles. Robert Muggli (240km), Urs Haari (235km) and Michael Müller (225km) launched in Fanas as well.

They didn't only manage to fly further; they also flew considerably faster: Robert Mugglis average speed was almost 4km/h higher, than the speed of Marcel Dettling back in 2008.

We are really happy about those flights because they show the impact of the performance improvements, we achieved with the Mentor 2.

The huge XC potential of the glider can also be seen if you have a look at the standard class ranking in the XContest: The 14 best pilots fly a Mentor 2.

Thanks and congratulations for these flights!
