SHGC XC League 2013 Winners
The 2013 Southern Hang Gliding Club (SHGC) cross country (XC) season was a big improvement on 2012, as the numbers in the SHGC XC Leagues clearly show:
In 2012, 28 paraglider pilots entered 116 flights and flew a total distance of 2896.17km.
In 2013, 32 paraglider pilots entered 186 flights and flew a total distance of 5601.70km.
The SHGC Paragliding XC League has several XC leagues, as follows:

Sussex League (all flights from SHGC sites, including weekends and Bank holiday)

Sussex Weekend League (flights from SHGC sites on weekends or Bank holidays)

Martini League (all flights from any site in the UK)

Novice League (flights by novice XC pilots)

Winter League (flights from SHGC sites from 1st November to end of February)

Foreign Flights (flights by SHGC members outside the UK)
There are also further awards for:

Longest Paragliding Flight in Sussex (does what it says on the tin)

Most Improved Paraglider Pilot (as nominated by SHGC members)

Best Paragliding Newcomer (as nominated by SHGC members)
In the Sussex League Flybubble's Carlo Borsattino, Greg Hamerton, Nancy Elliott and Simon Steel finished 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th respectively. Kenny McPhee came 3rd. Flybubble XC team pilots Lauren Martins, Shaun Bolton and Phil Clark finished 6th, 10th and 22nd respectively.
In the Sussex Weekend League Flybubble's Greg Hamerton, Carlo Borsattino, Shaun Bolton and Nancy Elliott finished 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th respectively. Once again Kenny McPhee came 3rd. Flybubble XC team pilot Phil Clark came 11th.
In the Martini League Flybubble's Carlo Borsattino, Greg Hamerton, Nancy Elliott and Lauren Martins finished 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th respectively. This time it was David Hague's turn to come 3rd! Flybubble XC team pilots Simon Steel, Shaun Bolton and Phil Clark finished 7th, 12th and 24th respectively.
In the Novice League the winner was David Williams, John Turczak first runner-up, and Boris Tyszko 3rd. 4th and 5th were James Hope-Lang and Vincent Talleu.
In the Winter League Flybubble's Greg Hamerton was 1st, Andrew Craig 2nd and Simon Phipps 3rd.
In the Foreign Flights league top travelling paraglider pilot was Andrew Craig followed by globe-trotters Crispin Rose-Innes, Peter Impey, Nancy Elliott, Grita Rose-Innes and John Turczak.
Longest Paragliding Flight in Sussex went to Flybubble XC team pilot Lauren Martins.
Most Improved Paraglider Pilot was very deservedly awarded to Flybubble's Nancy Elliott. Nancy also did the longest paragliding flight of the year in anywhere in the UK in the SHGC XC League - a whopping 127.67km from Cheltenham to Dorchester! Carlo did his best to keep up with her but landed 200m short. ;)
Best Paragliding Newcomer was also very deservedly awarded to Vincent Talleu.
Outstanding Achievement Award went to Mark Watts.
